A Different Ending

 

        Hi my everything ! welcome back to " Reading Journey With Sonson ". In this blog I'll giving a story an alternative ending. The story that I've been choose  is The lovely Lady by D. H. Lawrence, that contains 13 pages and  4087 words. I got this story from a website called English E-Reader and this story categorized as A2 elementary level. Before I give my alternate ending, I'll show you the summary first.

    This story starts with an old widow called Pauline Attenborough and was seventy-two years old, but she looked younger like a woman in their early thirty and she is a wealthy person because she liked power and controlled people with her power. She had a beautiful face and nose, only her big grey eyes made her look older. Pauline had two sons, Henry that died at twenty-two years old, and Robert was 32, he worked as a lawyer in London but didn't earn so much money. Pauline's niece called Ciss also lived together in the same house. Ciss and Robert had a crush on each other but both of them are so shy to admit their love. One afternoon when usually Pauline taking a sunbath in her garden, Ciss also did the same thing, but in the different place, on the roof-top. Then, Ciss heard a faint voice and talking about Henry's story about his brain disease and death because his mother didn't like his love named Claudia, then Pauline separated them two. In the beginning, Ciss was shocked by where did the voice came but she found out that the voice came from a raining pipe that carrying the aunt's voice to the roof. Day by day went then Pauline taking a sunbath again and also  Ciss on top of the roof. Again a shocking fact unveiled and it about the fact that Robert's father was different from Henry. Because  Robert's father is an Italian priest that Pauline loved the most. Knew that Ciss was angry because Pauline wanted to separate her and Robert too, then she talks from the raining pipe with a deep voice and pretended as Henry's ghost. So, she intimidated Pauline to make both of Ciss and Robert can be together. After that Pauline's face looks very blue and cold.

    When the dinner time came Pauline running down the stairs in her black dress. And so talked angrily that Robert and Ciss should get married then, she unveiled the secret about Robert's true father. Robert was shocked and confused with the fact. A week passed after that  thing happened, from that night she had gone mad. Her madness continued and that makes her ill so the doctor gave Pauline some drugs, but she never took it. And that make her look like a really old lady with wrinkles everywhere on her skin, so she took all mirrors from her room and never coming out from that room. Two days later, Pauline found dead in her bed because her heart becomes weak, and the drugs are too strong for her to handle. Before her death, she made an inheritance certificate that only gave only one thousand pounds per head in that house, and the rest of the money used to made a museum with her name, the Pauline Attenborough Museum.

Now I will narrate the new ending below.

      When the dinner time came Pauline running down the stairs in her black dress. And so talked angrily that Robert and Ciss should get married then, she unveiled the secret about Robert's true father. Robert was shocked and confused with the fact. A week passed after that  thing happened, from that night she had gone mad. Because of that many wrinkles popped out on her skin and made her appearance looks like a true old lady on her age. On one night she received an invitation from a governor because she was a powered person with wealth, Pauline assume this invitation was an opportunity to make a connection so she can control more person." I should go to that party, so I can gain a lot of power and connection again" she said. When the times comes She went to that party alone and wearing a wide fedora hat and gold dress.

    " I will look so beautiful and gorgeous with this outfit, even my wrinkles are everywhere," she thought. When she comes into the ballroom everybody is shocked by Pauline's appearance because of the wrinkles. Conscious of the condition with those whispering about her, she still thought positively that they were speaking of her beauty. " They must be amazed by my beauty, I believe it will easy to make a connection around here,". Anyhow she tried to start talking with other people they always flinch, her last hope was the governor so she approached the governor. " Oh my..., Mrs. Attenborough how did you become an ugly old lady so suddenly, " said the governor. Pauline really felt shameful, so she quit from that party.

    After that incident, Pauline lock down her room and never going out. She got anxiety, depression, and insomnia because the rumor about her appearance spread quickly across the district. " What should I do ? I look like an ugly person now ? Is death a great choice ? But I'm scared to death ! Ah.... Sleep is a better idea". Then she took too much dosage for the sleeping pills, she got overdosage and dead in her bed. All the money from Pauline went to Robert because he was the only heir. He used all the money to invest and make a law office and that office really succeed, moreover his office made Robert wealthier than his mother.
